Paolo Baltaro, polistrumentista, autore e produttore. Nato a Genova (Italia),
vive a Londra.
Non si riconduce a un genere predefinito,
per scelta precisa. Ha collaborato, fra gli
altri, con: Enrico Ruggeri, Roberto
Colombo, Roberto Vernetti, Arturo e
Andrea Rossi (Ariston), Maurizio Bassi, Donatella
Rettore, Ian Paice, Colin Edwin,
Leigh De Vries, Garrison Fewell, Francesco
Sarcina, Roberto “Freak” Antoni, Fabrizio
Consoli, Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi,
Pier Michelatti,
Alessio
Bertallot, Lica Cecato e con i registi Ricky
Mastro, Matteo Andreone, Carlo Donis e
Achaz Hardnberg.
Cantante, bassista e produttore degli Arcansiel,
celebre formazione Neo Prog. con i quali ha realizzato gli album “Normality
of perversion” (1994) e “Swimming
in the sand” (2004).
Nel 2008 ha fondato il quintetto
sperimentale nu-jazz S.A.D.O.
(Società Anonima Decostruzionismi
Organici) con il quale ha preso parte a
quattro tournèe, inciso 6 album e ottenuto
tre awards.
Con gli Mhmm, realizza come cantante, bassista, batterista,
tastierista e produttore l’album rock-blues
“Do not disturb” (2008) e il
relativo tour di promozione in Italia e Gran
Bretagna con la partecipazione della celebre
icona del Rock and Roll britannico Terry
Dene al Gipsy Hill Festival di
Londra.
Nei generi Punk e Metal è il batterista
e produttore dei “Sorella
maldestra”, con i quali produce “Maltempo”(2009) e “Il lato
A della serie B” (2012) e ha realizzato gli album “Into The
Drape”, “Secret Sudaria” e “All
the witches dance” dei Mortuary Drape,
The Call of the Wood degli Opera
IX e The Beast is Back dei
Toxic Poison. Molte le incursioni nella
sperimentazione, fra le quali Abajiur
Ruaial e Putrella, nonchè il progetto
legato al personaggio di MagicaAidan.
A partire dagli anni ’90, Paolo ha prodotto e
realizzazione di musiche per spot
commerciali e nella composizione e
registrazione di molte colonne sonore per
lungometraggi, cartoni animati e documentari
per conto di Rai Tv (Quark).
Batterista dal 2016 per l'artista berlinese Laura
Guidi, con Matteo Tambussi e Hal Strewe.
Da solista ha inciso e prodotto due album e un sette
pollici, “Low Fare Flight To The Earth”
(Musea, 2009), “TheDay After The Night
Before” (Banksville, 2016) e La Tempête
(2017, colonna sonora del film omonimo)
suonando lui stesso gran parte degli
strumenti.
Nel 2017 ha partecipato come
chitarrista e co-produttore. all'album "Drunk"
dei Sound Wall Project con Colin Edwin dei
Porcupine Tree al basso e Angelo
Bruschini dei Massive Attack. Nel
2019 pubblica con Lica Cecato "Call Porter",
un disco basato sulla musica di Cole Porter
caratterizzato da arrangiamenti a dir poco
inconsueti per il genere.
Attualmente è il cantante/chitarrista dei
Pillheads, con Daniele Mignone e Dario
Marchetti.
Gestisce due sale d’incisione, a Londra e a
Vercelli, ed è co-fondatore con Gianni
Opezzo dell’etichetta
discografica inglese Banksville Records.
Fondatore di PKM Radio Hot Berlin.

Paolo Baltaro was born in Genoa,
Italy, and is based in London, UK.
Multi instrumentalist, songwriter and
producer.
He focuses on several musical genres,
working lots of different artists including;
Enrico Ruggeri, Roberto Colombo,
Roberto Vernetti, Donatella
Rettore, Ian Paice, Colin
Edwin, Leigh De Vries,
Garrison Fewell, Francesco Sarcina,
Roberto “Freak” Antoni, Fabrizio
Consoli, Lica Cecato, Terry Dene, Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi,
Pier Michelatti, Alessio
Bertallot.and with the directors
Ricky Mastro, Matteo Andreone, Carlo Donis
and
Achaz Hardnberg.
Baltaro developed an international
reputation in the ‘progressive-rock’ scene
as producer, singer and songwriter in the
iconic prog band, Arcansiel,
releasing albums; Normality of
Perversion (1994) and Swimming
in the Sand (2004). Both albums were
released by Musea Records.
In 2008, he formed the experimental
‘nu-jazz’ quintet S.A.D.O. (Società
Anonima Decostruzionismi Organici) as a
spin-off from Arcansiel.
S.A.D.O went on to win three musical awards.
Also in 2008, Paolo released Do Not
Disturb, a ‘rock-blues’ album with
the Mhmm as songwriter, producer,
singer, bassist and keyboardist and
toured across Europe, including the Gipsy
Hill Festival in London with the rock and roll
star Terry Dene.
As musician and producer,
he has worked across many genres of
music, including punk-rock and metal:
he produced “Maltempo”(2009)
and “Il lato A della serie B”
(2012), for acclaimed Italian punk band
Sorella Maldestra.
He’s also collaborated on “Into The
Drape”, “Secret Sudaria”
and “All the witches dance” by
Mortuary Drape, The Call of the
Wood of Opera IX and "The
Beast is Back"by Toxic Poison.
He’s also produced music for TV commercials,
and soundtracks for films, cartoons and
documentaries for Italian television company
Rai-Quark.
Drummer for the Laura Guidi Band in
Berlin, with Matteo Tambussi and Hal Strewe.
As solo artist Paolo has released two
albums and a film soundrack as lead singer,
and instrumentalist - playing nearly on the
instruments on both records; “Low
Fare Flight To The Earth” (2009), “The
Day After The Night Before” (2016)
and "La Tempête" (2017,
original soundtrack).
In 2017 he participated to
the new Sound Wall Project album with
Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree
on bass and Angelo Bruschini of
Massive Attack as guitarist and
co-producer. In 2019 he released "Call
Porter" with the Brazilian singer Lica
Cecato.
He is the leader of the Pillheads, with
Daniele Mignone and Dario Marchetti.
He has recording studios in Vercelli,
Italy, and London, UK. He is also the
co-founder of the British label,
Banksville Records. Founder of PKM Radio
Hot Berlin.
