J.F. TANNHÄUSER: Un Genio ai Margini
This biography has been freely adapted from imaginary documents found in 2024 in the archive of the Apostolic Nunciature of Asmara concerning the German composer Johann Fritz Tannhäuser, born in 1898 and deceased in Asmara on October 4th, 1965.
Never as in this present age does the testimony of Johann Fritz Tannhäuser provide a more perfect path into the mystery of Art. In an era of stage-clown entertainers, of improbable and instant pop stars packaged like singing Barbies, of hedonistic extras immersed in aesthetic vulgarity, of incurable amnesiacs who remember nothing of the twentieth-century legacy, of unbearable know-it-all pundits who peddle truth in the media with the same attitude as sellers of miraculous ointments, of tiresome accidental “artists” born of the web and of artificial intelligence, the “resurrection” of Johann Fritz Tannhäuser shines like the gleam of a diamond in a toxic waste dump.
